3 Easy Ways to Conceal Your Audio-Video Equipment

To conceal your audio-video equipment, you can use trompe l’oeil-style artwork to distract viewers, place your AV equipment under a skirted table, or store everything in a closet.

If you have a lot of electronics such as a DVD player, television, gaming consoles and speakers at home then you probably already know how this audio video equipment can easily make a room unsightly. The wiring and cables can become a tangled mess or the equipment simply looks out of place in the room’s décor. Fortunately there are tricks for concealing audio video equipment so that it doesn’t become an eyesore.

Use trompe l’oeil-style artwork to distract viewers

The trompe l’oeil style of artwork is known for deceiving viewers into believing that an image is real. You can use this trick to conceal unsightly electronic devices or at least distract your guests. There are framed trompe l’oeil posters and art pieces available that you can use to decorate the room containing your AV equipment. You can either place the artwork directly in front of the equipment to completely hide it from view or you can hang the art behind your equipment as a background. The distinctive bright and strong imagery can easily shift the viewer’s attention from objects found in the foreground.

Place your AV equipment under a skirted table

This trick is practical if your AV equipment is piled in one area of the room. You can use a skirted table to hide the electronics. Find an end table or rolling table and arrange your AV equipment underneath it. Be sure to find a table skirt that matches the room’s color scheme and style. This should not be difficult as there are many table skirts available in a variety of colors, textures and fabrics. Drape the fabric over the tabletop and pull it down so that it hides all the electronic devices underneath. This trick will not only conceal your AV equipment, but the tabletop will also give you additional space for displaying books or other decorations.

Store everything in a closet

Consider using a closet for storing all of your AV equipment. Find one that is big and sturdy enough to accommodate all the electronics that you want to conceal. Before you place your equipment inside the closet, make sure that it is wiped clean of dust and other residue that may damage your electronics. Another alternative is to roll a dolly inside and stack your electronic equipment on it instead of directly on the closet shelves. This way you can easily roll everything out or roll it all back inside the closet when no longer needed. You can drill holes in the closet for the wires to pass through. If you choose, you can also install additional shelving for storing CDs and smaller gadgets like microphones or you can install lighting so that you can easily operate or handle the components inside. This closet can also serve as the audio video center of your home.

If you properly hide your AV equipment, you no longer have to worry about it ruining the harmony of your room’s décor and design. Just be sure that your method of concealment will not be inconvenient for you.

What are ways that you use to conceal your audio-video equipment? I would love you hear your ideas.

Yogi Bear DVD Giveaway Winner

The Yogi Bear Movie is now out on DVD and Blu-ray, yippee!

Congratulations to the winner of the Yogi Bear DVD Giveaway. The winner is #69 SLS(atlmuzikfanzinc), you have won the DVD. I used random.org to determine the winner.

This new adaptation of Hanna-Barbera’s classic cartoon will star Dan Aykroyd as the voice of Jellystone Park’s most famous troublemaker, Yogi Bear. Justin Timberlake, will star as the voice of Boo Boo, Yogi’s faithful pal and co-conspirator in his tireless schemes to separate Jellystone Park patrons from their lunches. The film’s cast also includes Anna Faris as nature documentary filmmaker Rachel Johnson, and Tom Cavanagh as Yogi’s amiable nemesis Ranger Smith. TJ Miller stars as Smith’s diligent deputy, Ranger Jones, and Andrew Daly as the conniving Mayor Brown. Jellystone Park has been losing business, so Mayor Brown has decided to shut it down and sell the land. That means families will no longer be able to experience the natural beauty of the outdoors—and, even worse, Yogi and his pal Boo Boo will be tossed out of the only home they’ve ever known. Faced with his biggest challenge ever, Yogi must prove that he really is “smarter than the average bear” as he and Boo Boo join forces with Ranger Smith to find a way to save the park from closing forever.

Top 15 Ways to Build Your Subscriber List

Email marketing can be profitable for any business, no matter what kind of product or service you offer. It is significantly cheaper than other advertising methods and, if done right, helps build loyalty and trust with customers. As a result, you generate more sales and more profits!

The foundation for successful email marketing is a targeted, permission-based email list. Marketers call contact lists their 'goldmine' because it can generate much of their sales revenue. If you've built up a list of opt-in subscribers that are qualified and interested in what you have to offer, then you've completed the first step and are on your way. Now it's time to 'mine' for gold!

Below you'll find several list-building and retention ideas that will help you get the best results from all your email marketing activities:

1. Provide useful, relevant content. Your visitors will not give you their email addresses just because they can subscribe to your newsletter free of charge. You have to provide unique and valuable information that will be of interest or use to them.

2. Add a subscription form to every page on your website. Make sure it stands out so it is easy to find. If it doesn't look cluttered, you may want to include more than one on some pages. For instance, if your opt-in form always appears in the top-left corner of your site, you may want to add one at the end of your most popular articles.

3. Add subscription forms to your social media pages. Make sure that you don't waste this valuable source of revenue opportunities. Integrate your sign-up forms with Facebook and more!

4. Make it easy for readers to sign up. The more information you request, the fewer people will opt-in. In most cases, a name and an email address should suffice. If it's not necessary, don't include it here. You can always survey them once they're customers! We do recommend that you provide a link to your Privacy Policy however.

5. Publish a Privacy Policy. Let your readers know that they can be confident you will not share their information with others. The easiest way to do this is to set up a Privacy Policy web page and provide the link to it below your opt-in form. (Note: If you don't have one, put the words 'privacy policy generator' into a search engine and you should be able to find a suitable form to use.)

6. Provide samples of your newsletters and Ezines. This lets potential subscribers review your materials before they sign up to determine if it's something they'd be interested in.

7. Archive past newsletters and articles. An online library of past newsletters and articles is both appealing and useful to visitors and builds your credibility as an authority. In addition, if your articles are written with good SEO techniques in mind, they can increase traffic to your website through enhanced search engine positioning.

8. Give gifts subscribers can actually use. Offer an opt-in bonus for joining your subscriber list! Write an ebook or provide a PDF business report, or even hire a programmer to create downloadable or web-based software. But don't limit yourself to offering gifts to opt-ins. Give them out when your readers fill out a survey, provide a testimonial, success story, or a great product idea. Let them know when they can expect the next gift offer. Everyone likes to get something for free! And if you pass out 'goodies' throughout the year, your subscribers will feel truly appreciated − and that's good for business!

9. Ask your subscribers to pass it on. Word of mouth is a powerful viral technique that works great with email marketing. If your subscribers find your content interesting, amusing or informative, they'll probably share it with their friends. This can be a great source of new customers, so make sure to remind them to 'pass it on'.

10. Let others reprint your newsletter as long as the content is not modified. If you're happy to share your content with the universe, then why not! Many webmasters and newsletter publishers are actively looking for high-quality content and, if they reprint your newsletter, you'll get new subscribers, and more traffic and links pointing to your site.

11. Include a 'Sign Up' button in your newsletter. If you're using plain text instead of HTML, be sure to provide a text link to your subscription page. You may feel that this is not required because the subscriber is already on your list, but remember that readers will forward your newsletters to others, or reprint them online. Make it easy for them to subscribe!

12. Add a squeeze page. A squeeze page has one goal − to acquire opt-ins and build your list. Think of it as a mini-sales letter to go along with your subscription or opt-in gift. It should feature a strong headline and a couple of powerful benefits that should make subscribers salivate to sign up! Once created, use a service such as WordTracker to find hundreds of targeted keywords, and promote your offer using pay-per-click advertising from Google, MSN and Yahoo. Now that should make a splash!

13. Include testimonials on your squeeze page. This is crucial. Put one or two strong testimonials from satisfied customers on your squeeze page. This can be in any format, but you may find that multimedia (audio or video) is more 'believable' and inspires more people to action. To further enhance believability, get permission to use actual customer names, locations and/or urls (Don't use 'Bob K, FL'). Add a note inviting others to participate. After all, it's free publicity!

14. Blog religiously. Blogging is a great way to communicate with prospects and potential customers, and creates a nice synergy with your email marketing. Be sure to include your newsletter sign-up form on each page of your blog. You can start a free blog at Blogger or WordPress.

15. Post on other blogs. Post thoughtful comments and information on similar blogs with a link to your squeeze or opt-in pages. Also comment on others' blogs through trackbacks. In most cases, your comments will be posted on their blogs with a link back to your site. This is an easy way to generate new traffic and subscribers, and get your brand out there!

Email Marketing will grow your business faster than any other marketing medium! I use and recommend GetResponse.

6 Ways to Fight Fair with Your Spouse

You can have a fair fight with your spouse by following these essential steps--acknowledge your negative emotions, allow each other to cool down and think of what to say, express your grievances constructively, take turns listening, allow the moment and issues to sink in, apologize and come up with a solution, and learn from the problem while leaving it in the past.

If you are going through a disagreement with your spouse, you don’t have to worry because you are not alone. Even the most compatible couples can find themselves in an argument with one another from time to time. Some disagreements may stem from small misunderstandings while others might be of more serious and complicated matters. Whatever the reasons there may be, the most essential relationship advice is to make sure that both parties involved deal with the problem fairly. Here are some steps you can follow so you can have a fair fight with your spouse:

Acknowledge your negative emotions

The first thing that both you and your spouse should do is acknowledge whatever negative emotions you are harboring against the other, but don’t say anything just yet. If you are angry at your spouse for something he or she has done, then be honest with yourself. Remember that it is alright to feel angry or hurt. Don’t pretend you are okay when you are not because this will only complicate things later on.

Allow each other to cool down and think of what to say

When both of you have acknowledged your anger and dissatisfaction, it is normal to feel the need to verbally vent out your frustration and start pointing out faults. However, always hold your tongue and make it a point to be tactful. But, this can be rather tricky, especially in such an emotional situation. If you find it difficult to express your thoughts constructively, then pause for a while and allow each other to cool down and think of what to say.

Express your grievances constructively

It is important that you are able to relay your thoughts and grievances. Be honest with your spouse and tell him or her what you really want to say, but in a tactful and constructive way. Expressing yourself constructively means avoiding hurting or sarcastic comments that will only aggravate the situation. Do not bring up past mistakes or issues that are not related to the current problem. Remember that the fight is meant to be a medium for you to resolve your problems and not a way to get even or hurt your spouse.

Take turns listening

Always keep in mind that fighting fairly means allowing each other equal opportunities to express yourselves. Before you speak, ask your spouse to listen first and argue his or her side later. Do the same when it is your spouse’s turn. Listen carefully to what he or she has to say and do not interrupt.

Allow the moment and issues to sink in

After you have explained your grievances, allow your spouse and yourself a moment of silence and let the issues sink in. This will allow both parties to focus on the problem at hand and, at the same time, regain control over emotions. This interval can last a few minutes or even hours, depending on how ready you are to move on to the next step.

Apologize and come up with a solution

It does not matter who started the fight, the important thing is that both of you acknowledge your mistakes and apologize sincerely to one another. Being apologetic will allow both of you to mutually solve the conflict.

Learn from the problem but leave it in the past

Reconciliation should end in an apology. Both you and your spouse should learn from what happened and make it a point to leave it in the past. Do not dig up the problem after it has been resolved.

Fighting is a healthy part of every relationship. It helps both parties improve the relationship and grow as individuals.

Remember that we are all different and we react in different ways.
Most importantly, pray to God that he will help you with your relationship. Read your Bible and Pray everyday. The closer you get to God, the closer you and your spouse will grow together. All things are possible with God.

I recommend that every one read this book,
"The 5 Love Languages", The Secret to Love That Lasts.
By Gary Chapman

Unhappiness in marriage often has a simple root cause: we speak different love languages, believes Dr. Gary Chapman. While working as a marriage counselor for more than 30 years, he identified five love languages: Words of Affirmation, Quality Time, Receiving Gifts, Acts of Service, and Physical Touch. In a friendly, often humorous style, he unpacks each one. Some husbands or wives may crave focused attention; another needs regular praise. Gifts are highly important to one spouse, while another sees fixing a leaky faucet, ironing a shirt, or cooking a meal as filling their "love tank." Some partners might find physical touch makes them feel valued: holding hands, giving back rubs, and sexual contact. Chapman illustrates each love language with real-life examples from his counseling practice.

3 Easy Methods to Use in Teaching Your Child Effective Time Management

There are 3 easy methods to teach your child effective time management. These are: by teaching your child how to tell time; by teaching your child how to set priorities; and by showing your child that managing time is fun.

We’ve all been children before, so we know that some hardcore beliefs that we’ve decided to keep our entire lifetime had been passed on to us by our parents at an early age in our lives. We might even have forgotten when they actually first started telling us this and that, but we’re sure they’ve been doing so for as long as we can remember. Time management skills might just be what he needs to cope better in life when he’s grown. So how can you effectively teach your child this skill?

By teaching your child how to tell time

Teach your child early on to tell time. If you want your child to learn how to manage time, then this is the first step. Other than the advantage of being introduced early to numbers as well, your child will become more responsible and disciplined when he knows how to tell time and why it’s important. Use a clock with the three hands rather than a digital clock because your child might be bored with the latter. Choose a large one with attractive designs to make it more fun. For example, when your child asks for ice cream, tell him he can have one at four o’clock. Then show him the numbers where the hands should point at this time (You’ll also be teaching him patience through this.). As he asks for more things, he’ll have the idea that activities are done at different times during the day.

By teaching your child how to set priorities

As is always said, there are always more things to do than there is enough time to do all of them. This can be true even for a child. By teaching your child how to set his priorities, he’ll know how to divide his time among his different activities; he’ll know where to spend more time on, and where to spend little. You can teach your child this by using the reward principle. If he finishes his home work first, he will have the remaining time before bedtime entirely for television. But if he wants television first, he would have to watch only until a certain time, regardless if he’s watching a favorite show. Sometimes also, you might find your child having a dilemma between doing two school projects. Ask him which one he finds more difficult and advise him to do that one first. This way, he won’t dread doing the second project because he’ll know it’ll be easier. Always make your child see the advantages of wise choices; he’ll carry this skill until the time he starts making decisions for himself.

By showing your child that managing time means fun

You should never left this part out. If you allow sufficient time to be allotted for playing, entertainment, and doing the things your child enjoys, this will ensure that he knows you mean well and that you’re not simply making his childhood miserable. This is true for all the other things you want to teach your child; if you want your child to really accept the lessons you’re teaching him, it is always imperative that you let him see the fun part of it. Also, this is important for your child to learn how to balance responsibility and relaxation, which will ultimately make him the well-rounded individual that you want him to be.

As a parent, consulting a time management e-book might help in further honing your kid's time management skills.
