8 Useful Time Management Tips for Moms

You and the rest of the moms out there can have good time management skills by following some useful tips: get organized, delegate household responsibilities, multitask, focus on priorities, develop household shortcuts, follow a routine, bend to certain unexpected situations, and relieve yourself of stress.

Dealing with time properly is something moms should learn how to do effectively. If you consider following specific time management tips, it will not be hard for you to adjust and complete all your domestic responsibilities, kids’ needs, the relationship with your spouse, and even tasks at work. You can manage all of these responsibilities well if you learn to adapt to some forms of effective time management discipline.

Get organized

Getting organized can get rid you of the stress of failing to remember a number of appointments, unfinished tasks, and forgetting other relevant activities. Getting organized by coming up with a system that makes it possible for you to accomplish everything efficiently and effectively. Organize your home by eliminating any clutter anywhere within your house. A messy place drains your time and energy too. Your time is another aspect to organize. You do this by making a ‘to do list’. This will serve as guide of the things you need to finish during the day.

Delegate household responsibilities

Another secret to managing time is to delegate household responsibilities. It will soon become rewarding for the entire family when everyone is able to take turns in doing household chores. Start by asking your kids and spouse to take part in doing the simpler household tasks.

Multitask

The surest and safest way to multitask is to pair one simple task with a another that needs more focus. One good example is to clean your kitchen counter top while making a phone call. However, if you feel that you become agitated by doing two tasks at a time, then it is time to stop.

Focus on priorities

Giving in to other people’s requests can be a nice gesture. However, there are times when you have to say ‘no’ for the simple reason that you need to attend to more important things that are of top priority to you.

Develop household shortcuts

You can develop your own style of taking shortcuts when doing household chores. You can implement your way of clearing clutter, dusting your furniture, cleaning the windows, washing the dishes, and doing the laundry. Think of a technique to hasten your accomplishments without jeopardizing the quality of your work.

Follow a routine

Have a routine to prevent any waste of mental energy. Schedule your time for menu planning, going grocery shopping, running errands, and other essential activities.

Bend to certain unexpected situations

You must be flexible so you can cope with changing and unexpected situations. Even when you have your own set schedule, there are unforeseen things that might come up. When you are flexible, you will not easily get distracted and annoyed by any alteration in your planned activities.

Relieve yourself of stress

You deserve some forms of self-care. You must be able to spend time alone reflecting, meditating and journaling your thoughts. Indulging in a home spa and engaging in various exercise programs can be of great help too. Quality sleep and a healthy diet are two basic things you must have.

Have a great weekend from Mom's Misc. Adventures.

Blog of the Week July 27

This week I want introduce you to Teresa from Too Many Heartbeats.

Teresa has an amazing blog about dealing with Dysautonomia. She is a wonderful Christan women. Let's pray for her as she works through this disease and may the Lord heal her of this disease.  Please check her blog out and follow her on Twitter and Facebook. Here is some facts about Teresa and her blog.

1. Please tell me a little about yourself.

My name is Teresa and I am 41 years old. I am a southern gal who lives in Georgia and I have been married almost 20 years to my very best friend, the man whom I believe the Lord created just for me! I am a Mom to 3 beautiful daughters and a Mimi to 2 adorable grandsons. We have 2 'furbabies' (Sadee, a 4 y/o black lab mix and Casper, a 1 y/o black Pomeranian) who keep me company and make me feel safe during the times when I am at home alone. I absolutely love spending time with the Lord and with my family.

In 2007, I became very ill and was eventually diagnosed with a very rare and serious neurovascular disease called Dysautonomia with Reflex Syncope (loss of consciousness/fainting). It is also sometimes referred to as POTS (Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome). This disease has left me 100% disabled, home bound and bedridden. It is a very difficult disease to explain but I have written extensively about it on my blog for those who are interested.

Some of my favorite activities are blogging, interior decor/design, buying and selling on Craig's List and eBay, reading and watching TV. I also enjoy the challenge of being frugal and living a life without the use of any credit (except our mortgage). It really CAN be done! Our family is living proof! We ♥ Dave Ramsey! Before I became sick, one of my most favorite activities was watching my 2 youngest daughters participate in all their high school band activities. I also enjoyed serving with a very large Christian Missions/Outreach Organization as their Short-term Medical Missions Coordinator. I hope to get back to those one day.

2. What leads you to blog and how long have you been blogging?
I just celebrated my 1 year 'blogoversary' on July 8th, 2010!!

My blog is a diary of sorts where I share about my life and personal walk with Christ as I deal with this very debilitating illness. The main reason I decided to blog was so that I could educate others about Dysautonomia and help spread awareness about it. Many people have symptoms of the disease, and may even suspect they have it, but for many, it takes years and years to get the correct diagnosis. I hope my blog (with all the information and resources I have provided) will help answer some of the questions people might have about the illness AND, more importantly, I pray that it will give them a sense of hope!!

3. What is your blog about?
I answered that in #2, I believe.

4. Do you have any other blogs you author? Please tell me about them.
No, not at this time

5. Anything else you would like to share with me ?
I can't think of anything except to say thank you so very much for inviting me to be part of your amazing blog! You are truly a very sweet lady.

Digital Photo Keychain Review & Giveaway

Review and Giveaway for The Digital Photo Keychain and Keyring with stand from Whole Sale Keychain.

I had the opportunity to try out this little guy. It is a fun little digital photo key chain that says it will hold around 100 photos, I was able to load up about 120 photos.  I just plugged it into my computer and up pops the photo program. It took me a little bit to figure out how to do it, but once I figured it out it was a snap. It is a nice little thing it carry around with you and you can show off your pictures. You can put your keys on it, but I would recommend putting your keys on a ring first then put it on the digital photo keychain. I have it hanging on my purse. My son loves the little thing, he thinks it is his own personal toy, but I told him to be careful with it. He loves that he can look at all our pictures on it.

The keychain that I got is the 1.5" Digital Photo Keychain and Keyring with stand. It has 16MB internal memory. It holds approximately 100 pictures. It comes in eight different colors. I am showing you a couple of the color choices on this post. You can even have your name or company's name engraved on the back. This would make a great gift for anyone at anytime of the year and I think it would make an especially good stocking stuffer gift at Christmas time.

Go on over to Whole Sale Keychain and look around. Take a look at their huge assortment of automotive, sports and digital photo keychains. They have lots of different digital photo keyschains to pick from.

Here is promotional video from whole sale key chain.

Now for the Giveaway.

Whole Sale Key Chain is giving one lucky winner one digital photo keychain. Just tell them which key chain you want and in what color. Make sure you give them a couple different color choices. And tell them if you want it engraved.

Giveaway is for USA Only.

Homemade Groceries

How To Homemaker

Hi Friends,
I'm Nancy Jacobs from How To Homemaker and I'm glad to be blogging with you today. I'm a married stay at home mother of three busy teenage children. I love teaching and have done some form of it all my life. That is why How To Homemaker came into existence. I give 'how to' tips almost daily on cooking, cleaning, gardening and all things related to homemaking. I even throw in recipes and crafts.

Today I want to talk to you about making your own groceries.

There are many times when it is super easy to make your own groceries.  This can in many instances save you money, sometimes quite a bit of money.  More importantly, when you make your own groceries, you know you are getting the freshest ingredients without any additives or preservatives.  That is a wonderful thing!  You can make everything from baby food to dog treats and everything in between.  Knowing how to make your own groceries can get you out of a pinch and possibly save you an extra trip to the supermarket.

I would like to share a few homemade grocery recipes with you today.  What I'm focusing on are seasonings and spices.  These recipes can be easily doubled or tripled.  If you are invited to a barbecue or other party this summer, consider giving a jar of one of the seasonings as a hostess gift.  They look so pretty when you tie a raffia ribbon around the lid of the jar and attach a label with the contents of the jar.  Your hostess will really appreciate it.

Barbecue Rub
1/2 cup chili powder
1/4 cup salt
3 tablespoons onion powder
2 tablespoons ground cumin
1 tablespoon paprika
1 tablespoon garlic powder
1 tablespoon brown sugar
1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1/2 teaspoon dry mustard

Combine all ingredients.  Rub into chicken, steaks or hamburgers before grilling.

Italian Seasoning
1/2 cup dried oregano
1/3 cup dried basil
2 tablespoons garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
1/2 teaspoon pepper
1 bay leaf crumbled

Combine ingredients and pulse briefly in a food processor.  Use in tomato sauces, salads, meat loaves, and meatballs.

Thanks Lisa for letting me guest post over here today.  I hope you will pop over to my blog at How To Homemaker and say Hello.  It's always nice to meet new friends!

Thank-you Nancy for being a guest blogger on Mom's Misc. Adventures.

Blog of the Week July 20

PrendaLeStelle

This week I would like to introduce you too Jillian from Prenda le Stelle.
She has a mom blog and writes about a little of everything. And she even has giveaways, yeah. So go on over there and check her blog out and follow her on Twitter and Facebook. Here is a few things about her.

1. Please tell me a little about yourself.

I'm Jillian, a 23 year old SAHM of a one year old son, Ryder. I go to school online, trying to get into nursing school, which is taking longer than expected. I have an amazing man in my life, who is not technically my husband, but that's what I call him. I like to craft, and hope to open an Etsy store soon with favor boxes and banners.

2. What leads you to blog and how long have you been blogging?

Blogging is an outlet; a way to get things out of my brain that I otherwise can't. I have no problem stating my opinion, and if you don't like it, I don't care . It's my opinion not yours, and its my right to have one. I have been blogging off and on for a year or so; but most recently, I started blogging regularly in May.

3. What is your blog about?

Everything. My son, my life, things I love, things I hate, etc. I like to share my "point of view" in my blog. The name of my blog means "take the stars" in Italian. I believe life is what you make it; if you aren't happy you aren't making yourself happy, so change something in your life.

4. Do you have any other blogs you author? Please tell me about them.

I have a blog for my son specifically. It is a blog accessible for my family and friends that I don't necessarily want to read my "real" blog. All posts there are also on Prenda le Stelle.

5. Anything else you would like to share with me ?

I would love to get into reviews and giveaways, possibly start a new blog for them. So if you have something you'd like more exposure on, please feel free to contact me!

Blog of the Week July 13

This week I want to introduce you to Rachel from Quirky Momma.

Rachel writes about activities for kids and tips for moms. She has lots of information on learning activities for preschoolers, housekeeping tips, recipes and giveaways. Her blog is jammed packed with information for moms. I highly recommend you check her blog out. Then follow her on facebook and twitter. She is truly an amazing woman.

1. Please tell me a little about yourself.
I am mommy to three preschoolers and I love to blog about our family's learning activities or other great early childhood education tidbits I come across online.

2. What leads you to blog and how long have you been blogging?
I began blogging after being asked multiple times what the recipe was to whatever our messy play date goop of the day was, or what we did for our bug themed party so they could replicate it. A blog made sense at the time, its the perfect online scrapbook! I've been blogging since May 2009, promoting it since September of that year.

3. What is your blog about?
Anything related to preschoolers, but mostly silly and fun activities to keep them occupied and engaged. I love to feature other bloggers who have related and relevant posts! Email me with any interesting post that you recently did and I just might feature an excerpt of it on a "Fabulous Friday".

4. Do you have any other blogs you author? Please tell me about them.
I don't author any other blogs, but my blog has an active online forum/community - Mom Loop - where other moms of preschoolers come and discuss issues relating to our kids, or just vent on life. I am on there way too often! If you are looking for some instant online mom friends, that is the place to go find them!
