I just love Christian music. I was offered the chance to review the new CD by Rebecca St. James and I jumped at the opportunity. The new CD I Will Praise You came out on April 5th.
This CD has been the first that Rebecca St. James has released since 2005. Rebecca St. James charts yet another new course with I Will Praise You, a new collection of worship songs she terms “ her most personal recording to date.” From the opening notes of track one, listeners are offered a welcoming connection with Rebecca’s recognizably authentic vocal warmth and delivery. More than anything, "I Will Praise You" represents the latest steps in Rebecca’s life long journey towards the presence of God.

Mommy bloggers of the world unite! As many of us who run parenting blogs know, mommy blogs are insanely popular right now, so offering something more than the usual fare is an absolute must if you want your website to stand out. Having read and written for so many parenting blogs in the past few years, I've noticed some patterns that some parents would do well to break every once in a while in order to keep their content fresh and exciting. Here are a few ideas for those parenting bloggers among you who are looking for some new direction with their blogging activities.
1. Respond to something current going on in the parenting world. List articles that purvey basic parenting advice can be great, of course, but there are only so many articles you can write about "top 5 ways to teach your child x." If you find that you are running low on ideas, turn to the world of news and current events. After reading about some new update in parenting or developmental health and psychology, respond to the new findings and incorporate some advice for parents. For example, report on the new developments, offer your own opinion, and end the post with an invitation for readers to weigh in with their own thoughts.
2. Focus on a variety of ages, even if you are the parent of kids in only one age range. If you have young kids, it would make sense for you to write about parenting from a perspective that takes into account stages that usually occur during that age range. For example, if you are the parent of toddlers, you may focus on things like walking, talking, potty training, etc. If you have kids who are in high school, you may blog about preparing for college. At the same time however, it may behoove you to branch out of a particular developmental stage. If you only have young kids, you may want to talk about plans you are making for when your children are older, and if you have older kids you can take some time and blog space to reflect on their earlier years. This way, your audience will become more diverse.
3. Anecdotes with specific childrearing experiences are always great fodder for blog entries. Blogging in itself is a form of writing that is traditionally about personal confession. While airing personal grievances can of course go too far in terms of compromising your privacy or professional reputation, mommy blogging is a niche that is particularly conducive to telling anecdotes. After all, you blog about parenting because you have to do it every day. Make it personal by describing telling moments about your daily life so as to draw in your parent readers.
4. Diversify the structure and subject matter of your articles if you find yourself blogging about the same aspects of parenting all the time. Some parenting blogs stick only to tip lists, while others have a tendency to post only healthy recipes or product reviews of children's toys and educational tools. While nothing is wrong with any of these structures or themes, it's important to give your readers something different on a pretty steady basis. This way, you'll keep your audience excited about coming back for more every time you update your blog. By-line:
