This week's Blog of the Week is Olivia from
Of Such is the Kingdom.
Olivia has a wonderful Christian blog about parenting. I encourage you to check out her blog.
1. Please tell us a little about yourself.
I'm a Christian, a philosopher, a dreamer, a dancer, a wife, and a momma. I love to read, to jog, to be with my hubby, and to eat chocolate cake. I am learning how to give myself (and others) more grace and how to let the little things in life go--to prioritize correctly. These will be my life lessons!
I am also a teacher; I taught for several summers and a year in China as well as teaching every age group in the states. I've taught everything from middle school in the inner city to one-room school-house type classes to very young mommas at a Crisis Pregnancy Center. I love to teach!
Right now my daily life is about cooking for kids, entertaining kids (or teaching them to entertain themselves), cleaning house, building community among my friends and neighbors, blogging, and writing curriculum for various organizations.
2. What leads you to blog and how long have you been blogging?
I love to write and I would love to turn my love into something that produces a little income for our family (maybe someday!) I also love the blogging community--it makes me a better momma to read other momma's blogs and to blog my own momma exploits.
3. What is your blog about?
My blog is to help parents really enjoy the adventure of parenting. Of Such is the Kingdom is all about crafts, activities, recipes, books, and ideas that inspire and encourage parents.
4. Do you have any other blogs you author? Please tell us about them.
Of Such is the KIngdom is my only public blog at this time.
5. Anything else you would like to share with us?
"Of Such is the Kingdom" is from that verse in the Bible where Jesus says, "Let the little children come to me and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of God." Parents often either get discouraged because they feel like parenting is much too big a task or they get bored because they feel like parenting is such a tiny part of the big Kingdom work. The foundational idea behind Of Such is the Kingdom is that neither of these is true. Parenting is a task for which God provides the Holy Spirit's help and a task that is HUGE in the Kingdom of heaven. This daily grind--this changing diapers and cooking dinner and cleaning house and kissing boo boos and singing to sleep--these are the adventures that our Father has given us; they are our Kingdom work.
